Making Decisions

Last Sunday night we showed the movie “Six.” When we purchased it we thought it was about the end times. What the movie was really about was choices.

Every day we make choices. Some are mundane and some are more important. The question is how do we make the right decisions. Here are some simple POINTS I try to follow.

· What does the Bible say?
The Bible is the standard on which we must live. Everything else in life changes at an alarming rate. Yet the Bible stays the same. Does it speak specifically to my situation? Does it have immutable principle relating to the decision?

· What does my wife say?
I’m not kidding. In 14 yrs. of marriage we have not made one major decision without being in agreement. Wives are God’s gifts to us. Never overlook their wisdom!

· What do others I trust say?
For every major decision in life I have people I contact. People who love me enough to tell me the truth.

· What does my own heart say?
Notice this is not the first point but the last. Go through the other POINTS wrapped in prayer. I have found that after I have followed the POINTS my heart is usually on target. When I follow my heart without the process I have been terribly wrong.

Lastly, pull the trigger. Make the decision. You cannot be paralyzed by important decisions. Follow the POINTS and go forward trusting the Good Shepherd to lead.
