1 Th 5:19 Do not put out the Spirit's fire;

1. The Personality of the Spirit

• The Holy Spirit is not a ghost
• The Holy Spirit is not a force
• The Holy Spirit is a person

John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--
John 14:17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

This distinction makes a huge difference

• If the Holy Spirit were a force we could use it.
• Since He is a person He uses us

2. The Power of the Spirit

• He energizes us

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

• He encourages us

John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--

• He enables us

3. The Presence of the Spirit

• He is with us
• He is in us

John 14:17 ...But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

How do we put out the Spirit's Fire?

• Disobedience
• Ignoring
• Neglecting the Gifts of the Spirit

All lead to putting out the spirits fire

As we begin this new year there are four decisions, choices, we need to make

• Be Joyful
• Be Payful
• Be Thankful
• Be Spirit full
